Cricketing Cliche 8
A leather hunt.
T Krishnaswamy very kindly contributes this one, and says that as he flipped channels this morning, virtually every report on the match spoke about Virender Sehwag sending Pakistan's bowlers on "a leather hunt". A creative coinage to begin with, no doubt, but rather too tired now.
Perhaps it was a cliche in prehistoric times as well. I can imagine a hairy naked man emerging out of a cave and saying to his neighbouring caveman, "Let's go hunt some cattle, Veeru." And the reply, of course, would be:
"Yes. It's time for a leather hunt."
